Mary Tetlow

Mary leads the Tetlow Associates team. She has extensive experience as a consultant and manager and as a senior civil servant working on public service reform policy. Her work experience includes lead responsibility in the Cabinet Office for customer focus in public services from 2003 until April 2006. Mary has developed particular expertise and published about how organisations can develop their understanding of people’s experience of public services in the UK and internationally. She has led major projects at national level in England and Scotland on developing customer satisfaction measures for local government.

As an independent consultant and former Senior Fellow at the Office for Public Management, she has extensive experience of local and central government. She has worked with Local Strategic Partnerships and Local Area Renewal Partnerships, facilitating effective partnership working and helping develop effective stakeholder engagement strategies. She has also worked as a consultant at national level on policy issues for the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. She is also an experienced facilitator, and an Associate of the National School of Government, where she teaches on policy development, stakeholder engagement and effective communication. She has a strong interest in international aspects of her work and has undertaken international commissions on public service reform.

Before becoming a consultant she worked as a senior manager for the British Council, including 4 years as Director in the Czech Republic and development related work in Zambia and Nigeria.

Mary has a degree in German an MSc in Organisational Behaviour from the University of London, and a Management Diploma from Henley.
